Are you looking to build a strong career? Then we have an opportunity for you! We currently have an opportunity for a Human Resources Plant Manager to join our team in Wheeling, IL.

The Human Resources Plant Manager is responsible for effectively managing all aspects of the HR/employee relations aspect of a manufacturing operation including coordination for all salaried and hourly employee training and development.

The Human Resources Plant Manager will be responsible for the following:

• Provides functional & operational human resources guidance through planning, organizing and controlling the activities of the Human Resources Department in support of the plant

• Serves as functional resource for employee base, ensuring their understanding and compliance with benefit and HR policies and regulations

• Manages the labor relations and employee relations efforts, working closely with the Corporate HR Lead team to develop & implement business aligned HR initiatives that promote effective employee and management relations

• Manages union contract(s) as well as union relationship(s)

• Holds grievance meetings and assists in preparation for arbitration hearings

• Assists in preparing for contract negotiations and communication critical information to local management

• Prepares and assists line management in dealing with potential labor disputes, strikes, and other concerted activity

• Keeps management advised of potential problem areas and recommend/implement solutions as appropriate

• Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to support continual improvement. Act as a change in agent within the plant

• Participates in the development and implementation of plant’s goals, objectives and systems

• Manages recruitment effort for all exempt, non-exempt, and hourly employees; monitor recruitment program; employee relations counseling and performance planning

• Manages and maintain department records and reports

• Actively participates in HR projects and meetings

• May manage vendor relationships

• Ensures legal compliance by reviewing federal, state and local regulatory requirement and disseminating, explaining and consulting

• Travel up to 10% annually

Job Requirements

To be considered for Human Resources Plant Manager opportunity, candidates should possess the following:

• BA/BS degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or related field required

• MBA or other advanced degree a plus

• PHR or SPHR/SHRM-CP or SCP certification a plus

• 7+ years’ experience as of professional and progressive HR Generalist in an unionized plant manufacturing environment

• Prior team management experience combined with a proven track record of developing coaching and mentoring direct reports

• Proficient in MS Office

• Knowledge in Ceridian a plus

• Knowledge of applicable state, federal, local employment labor laws and regulations

• Comprehensive knowledge of the NLRA

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization

• Self-directed with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple accountabilities and multiple internal customers

• Must be forward thinking and strategic with respect to HR processes and systems, creating a climate for change. Uses influence in the organization to affect change

• Strong analytical skills as well as organizational skills

• Skills in handling conflict resolution situations

• Ability to be discreet with confidential information and sensitive issues

• Ability to interpret to contract language with past practice
