We currently have an opportunity for an IT Server Technologies Architect located in Lincolnshire, IL (northern suburbs of Chicago)

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This off shift part time position will work with the corporate Technology Operations center to design, deploy and support technologies in the Windows Server and VMware verticals.  The position will work less than 30 hours per week.  A deep and thorough understanding of the design and management of Active Directory, HP hardware and firmware, and vSphere, vCenter and ESXi are absolute requirements.  This role will provide after-hours support for incident management, in addition to performing rolling updates to the server hardware and operating system levels

The IT Server Technologies Architect will be responsible for :

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Broad experience supporting IT infrastructure, with heavy emphasis on:
    • Active Directory (Group Policies, DFS)
    • Powershell scripting
    • Windows Server 2008 & 2012 Operating Systems
    • WSUS
    • HP ProLiant Server Platform (deployment, support, upgrades)
    • HP C Class Chassis Administration (deployment, support, upgrades)
    • vSphere, vCenter and ESXi (deployment, support, upgrades)
    • Windows 2008 Failover Clustering
    • System Center Operations Manager – or equivalent monitoring solution
    • Windows backup and recovery through the use of NetBackup & Veeam – or equivalent
    • Citrix Presentation Server / XenApp
  • Must be available during off-shift hours, outside of 8-5pm CST
  • Must have excellent written/verbal communications skills to stay connected to day shift personnel and management
  • Must be a self-starter demonstrating the willingness to address / resolve ambiguity and conflict within complex business change projects.
  • Promote and follow prescribed project management guidelines for RLS projects
  • Maintain documentation for all operational / support processes for the systems supported by the Server Technologies team; automate repetitive processes where appropriate
  • Define/refine sustainable, relevant metrics that demonstrate system availability, transaction/work throughput, business benefits achieved, and/or quality improvement
  • Stay current with new technologies and techniques as appropriate

 

Job Requirements

To be considered for the IT Server Technologies Architect opportunity, candidates should possess:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related field or equivalent work experience

 

Experience:

Minimum 7 to 10  years of related work experience including solid experience including solid exposure to enterprise architecture

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Exemplary, demonstrated self-starting skills
  • Expert level knowledge of applications and systems development tools and methods
  • Experience in managing and leading virtual, cross-functional teams including requirements definition, design documentation, project plans and solution delivery
